Play Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is one of the most commonly played poker game in U.S. casinos. The game's widespread popularity has spread to home games and many people like to play Texas Hold'em with their friends. Basically, Hold'em lets players make their five card poker hands from any combination of two private cards (dealt face down for each player) and five community cards (dealt face up on the table and shared by all of the players).

The best way to learn to play Texas Hold'em is to try it once you have an understanding of the basic rules and structure. Many online casinos allow you to play Texas Hold'em for free, either in a tutorial or with play money in a regular game.

When the game starts, the two players to the left of the dealer must wager. Their bets are called the small blind and the big blind. After the blinds are posted, all of the players get two cards in the hole and the remaining players place their bets.

The next thing that happens when you play Texas Hold'em is that the dealer places three cards, known as the flop, on the table. These cards are dealt face-up and are shared by all of the players. More betting follows these cards being revealed and then a fourth card is dealt. After the subsequent betting round, the fifth and final card is placed on the table and remaining players make their last bets.

When you learn to play Texas Hold'em an important thing to understand is how it differs from a game with no community cards like standard draw or stud poker. Since a majority of the cards are shared, when you play Texas Hold'em your advantage lies exclusively in your two down cards. So, when you play you need to consider any advantage you may have -- or that your opponents could have based on what is seen and hidden.
