Texas Hold'em Poker
Texas Hold'em poker is a common variation of poker. It is one of the most popular games among poker players in both online and live casinos.
Texas Hold'em poker is played with a standard 52-card deck. Each player receives 2 cards in the hole (dealt face down) and there are five community cards, dealt into the center of the table. All of the players use the community cards along with their hole cards to make the best possible five-card poker hand; players can use any combination of the seven cards. Texas Hold'em poker follows the same hand rankings as standard poker games.
Dealing Texas Hold'em Poker
There is no ante in Texas Hold'em Poker; instead, the two players to the immediate left of the dealer make bets called the small blind and the big blind. The small blind is posted by the player directly to the dealer's left, and the bet is equal to half of the minimum bet. The big blind is posted by the next player to the left; the big blind is the same amount as the minimum bet. Once both blinds are posted, the dealer can distribute the first cards.
Once each player receives two hole cards, there is a round of betting. The player to the left of the big blind starts the betting round, either calling by matching the amount of the big blind or raising. Other players bet subsequently.
After this round of betting, three cards are dealt face up into the center of the table. These cards are known as the flop and they are the first of the shared community cards in the game. After the flop is dealt, there is another betting round.
The fourth card dealt into the center of the table is often called the turn. Once it is revealed, another betting round follows.
The final community card dealt is called the river. Once the river is revealed, the remaining players make their bets and then show their cards. The best hand wins. If the five community cards make the best possible hand, all of the players split the pot.
